Anime Films/Movies Award 2022 Nomination – Crunchyroll & Academy Awards (Oscars)

It’s that time of the year again… It’s Award Time! We have our customary 6th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards nominations, and with anime’s continued popularity, they have moved up to the nomination list for the 94th Academy Awards.

As far as we’re concerned, this isn’t simply a one-off; we’re talking about multiple nominations. I’m so thrilled that people now appreciate anime for what it truly is: a work of art!

Here, we’ll go over a list of Anime Films/Movies that are up for nomination in 2022. Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

A total of six anime films/movies were nominated at the 94th Academy Awards, including:

1. Belle

We follow the story of Suzu, a depressed 17-year-old girl that ends up making it big as a mysterious singer on a virtual reality life simulator known as “U.”

Belle tells a fascinating and emotional story about growing up in the digital age. It features excellent animation and soothing music. Well deserving of a spot on this list.

2.   Josee, The Tiger and the Fish

Josee, The Tiger and the Fish is a lighthearted romantic film about an odd pair, Tsuneo, a university student, and Josee, a disabled little girl striving to find her place in the world. The two meet out of necessity and discover they have a passion for the sea.

This film is the true definition of beautiful and charming. The story, art, character development is spot on!

3.   Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko

Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko tells the story of a mother and daughter and their lives aboard a boat in a fishing town. The plot might sound just as simple, but it isn’t.

4.   The Laws of the Universe –The Age of Elohim

The story takes place millions of years ago on Earth when the planet was on the verge of extinction. Earthlings from many different races and cultures are engaged in an epic intergalactic conflict to defend Earth and its various ideals.

5.   Pompo the Cinephile

We follow the story of Joelle Davidovich Pomponette (Pompo-san), a talented film producer. However, despite her ability to see through performers and personnel to their full potential and bring out their best qualities, she has only produced B-class action and erotica flicks. Pompo’s “film-worm” assistant, Gene, who has been doubtful of her film genre selections, is given the role of directing a film based on a story she wrote. Will Gene be able to complete Pompo’s “masterpiece”?

6.   Poupelle of Chimney Town

This movie tells the story of Lubicchi, a young boy who has always wanted to see the stars but lives in a town full of chimneys and thick smoke. One night, he meets Poupelle, a man made of garbage, and together they set out on an adventurous quest to the skies.

The casting of votes runs from January 27 to February 1, 2022, and the winners will be announced on February 8, while the ceremony is scheduled to hold on March 27, 2022

7.   Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time

Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon a Time is the fourth and last movie in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, previously known as Evangelion: Final.

And just like the series, we follow Misato and her Anti-Nerv group Wille on a quest to save humanity and the rest of the world one last time?

8.   Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train

Famous for being the highest-grossing picture of 2020 and the first non-Hollywood production to top the annual box office.

Demon slayer – Mugen Train tells the story of three demon slayers on a train to defeat a demon tormenting people.

9.   Shirobako the Movie

The film’s story takes place four years after the first Shirobako anime. And just like the series, we follow the Musashino Animation team on a studio project quest.

10. Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop

Words bubble up like soda pop is a romantic comedy-drama about an odd pair. Yui, a boy who wears headphones and uses haiku poems, and Yuki, a shy girl who wears a mask and only does online videos.

We also have Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, and BELLE, both nominated for the Academy Awards – you can find their synopsis above in the Academy Awards Category.
