Updated: Sony Ends Funimation and Crunchyroll Deal

We all know by now that Sony decided to end the deal between Funimation and Crunchyroll. Today is the official deadline for the ending. This is what happens when “Big Business,” enters the anime community. It’s sad and unfortunate, but we must move on. When the news broke what we didn’t initially know is what titles we might be losing from Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll has posted a tentative list of titles that will no longer appear on the site. They have also listed some dub titles that they will be gaining. While the titles they are losing are some of the biggest and best titles in anime. It’s a smaller list compared to what Crunchyroll is gaining.

A personal loss and one that I knew for sure would happen is Yu Yu Hakusho. The great news that an OVA is coming out for the show has everyone on their toes. We can’t wait for it and it’s gained a lot of eyes. Unfortunately, if you have Crunchyroll you for sure won’t be able to watch when it’s released. Some other totable titles are: Psycho-Pass, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, D. Gray-man, and Steins;Gate.

Users that want to continue watching Funimation anime and movies henceforth can now only do so through Funimation. To purchase a subscription to the “Funimation Now” streaming service, it currently goes for $5.99 a month.
